NEW BREMEN, Ohio (August 9, 2024) – Crown Equipment, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, today provided an update regarding a June 2024 cyberattack that required it to temporarily suspend operations. As part of its investigation into the incident, Crown identified that an unauthorized third party gained access to certain Crown records, such as accident and injury reports, and employee participation in the company’s benefits and retirement programs. These records contained sensitive personal data on the company’s employees, and in limited cases, their family members. However, federal law enforcement agencies and cybersecurity experts initiated targeted operations to protect Crown, its employees and its data. Because of these initiatives, Crown has a high degree of confidence that any Crown data or personal data associated with this incident will not, and cannot, be used for malicious purposes.
