Crown's powered industrial truck Operator Training programs are model specific programs anchored by "It's Up to You". "It's Up to You" provides the basics in material handling and powered industrial truck operation safety. Model specific programs take over from there to provide training for your operators on the specific truck model they will use in your operation. OSHA additionally requires site specific training so that operators are taught safe lift truck practices in the environment where they will be working.

Thorough initial operator training is a very important part of the development of safe, proficient operators but it is only the beginning. Your operator's initial training must be reinforced by your supervisors. Although OSHA requires recertification every three years, continual reinforcement of proper lift truck operation helps eliminate dips in your safety cycle.

If you would like to know more about making sure your supervisors understand safe, proper forklift operation and they reward and enforce it, contact your local Crown dealer. They have information on providing your supervisors operator safety training and "Train-the-Trainer" classes.

More specific operator training information can be found by visiting the Training section of crown.com, or by contacting your local Crown Dealer.

For OSHA requirements for operator training visit www.osha.gov to view OSHA's 29CFR 1910.178 Powered Industrial Truck standards and interpretations. (Search on "1910.178")
