This past July, Crown was recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for waste minimization efforts in our painting operations.
The USEPA designated Crown as a Waste Minimization Partner, one of only 27 in the country. Crown substantially reduced hazardous waste by eliminating the chromium from its paint formulations. Installation of a powder coat painting operation further minimized waste by reducing the generation of paint sludge and air emissions.
"To earn this type of accomplishment, it really takes a lot of different people and departments working together," said Crown Manager - Energy, Environment and Industrial Hygiene Brian Duffy. "Crown will continue to work at finding ways to minimize waste in our manufacturing operations. A key component in accomplishing that effort is encouraging employees to contact their supervisors concerning waste minimization or pollution prevention," Duffy said. |
